Williamson, Speak take district swim titles, state meet coming this weekend

Bothell senior Mariah Williamson and Inglemoor sophomore Sage Speak will be heading into this weekend's 4A state swim meet with a boost of confidence, having won individual titles at Saturday's Sea-King District Finals. Williamson won the 200 freestyle in 1 minute, 56.02 seconds, and Speak took the 100 breaststroke in 1:06.17, the event she placed third in last year at state.

Bothell senior Mariah Williamson and Inglemoor sophomore Sage Speak will be heading into this weekend’s 4A state swim meet with a boost of confidence, having won individual titles at Saturday’s Sea-King District Finals.

Williamson took home two gold medals, winning the 200 freestyle in 1 minute, 56.02 seconds and the 500 free in 5:08.22, and Speak took the 100 breaststroke in 1:06.17, the event she placed third in last year at state.

For the meet, Inglemoor placed fifth overall with 146 team points, with Bothell coming in right behind in sixth with 111.5 points.

As a team, the Vikings also have the second-fastest reported time in the 200 free relay, at 1:42.84, an event that they will threaten to win.

The state meet will be taking place at King County Aquatics Center in Federal Way, starting Friday and ending with the 4A finals on Saturday, beginning at 2:30 p.m.
