The Inglemoor Vikings football team (0-3) fell just short of their first win in 2012 with a 31-28 road loss to Tumwater on Friday night.

In the second quarter, quarterback Hans Fortune hit wide receiver Mike Lewis for a 10-yard touchdown to give the Vikings a 14-10 lead going into halftime, and after Tumwater scored to take 17-14 lead, Viking running back Nick Russell broke away for a 29-yard score to give the Vikings a momentary lead.

In the fourth quarter, Fortune ran in a 1-yard touchdown himself, but Inglemoor was done in by a Tumwater punt return that went nearly the entire length of the field with five minutes to go in the fourth quarter.

The Vikings get their league schedule underway this Friday against Woodinville at Pop Keeney, kickoff at 7 p.m.

The Bothell Cougars also started the season 0-3 after a 27-11 loss to Capital in Olympia last Friday. The Cougars look to turn the tide against Eastlake (1-2) on Saturday at Pop Keeney, kickoff at 7 p.m.

Cougar soccer shuts out Arlington

Playing at Pop Keeney Stadium on Saturday night, the Bothell girls’ soccer team prevented Arlington from scoring in a 3-0 nonleague win.

Keeper Christy Noble earned the shutout in goal for the Cougars, with Mackenzie Bean opening up the scoring in the 20th minute off Kelsie Morgan, and Brianna McIntosh (50th minute) and Jessi Howe (assisted by Julia Warner, 72nd minute) adding second half goals.

With the win, Bothell improved to 3-2-0 overall.

Pisani’s goal lifts Vikings over Monroe

One goal was all it took on Saturday night at Pop Keeney for Inglemoor to beat visiting Monroe 1-0 in a nonleague girls’ soccer matchup.

Juliette Pisani found the net off Lara Jacobsen’s assist in the 12th minute, and the Viking defense was able to hold Monroe at bay.

With the win, Inglemoor stayed unbeaten at 4-0-1 overall this season.
