Bothell Cougars senior 182-pound grappler Jay Smith is an imposing figure in the wrestling circle.
Smith dominated in all facets, cruising to a 17-0 victory against Redmond’s George Matusevych in the 4A KingCo 182-pound championship match on Feb. 2 at North Creek High School.
“It just felt great. I really loved it. I worked hard for this and I’m getting what I deserve. That is what I feel,” Smith said.
Smith, who had an overall record of 1-2 at the Mat Classic Class 4A state tournament last season, is determined to reach the pinnacle at the Tacoma Dome.
“I have very much confidence in myself. My goal is to be state champ this year,” Smith said.
