The Vikings broke the game open with four runs in the fourth inning on doubles by Connor Savage, Emmett Maki, Obi Taylor and Alex Morrow, and then three more in the fourth highlighted by another RBI double by Blake Wilson.

The Wolves kept pace, scoring two runs in each of the third, fourth and fifth innings, with Savage adding an insurance run in the seventh, capping a 4-for-4 night.

Taylor, a senior pitcher, dominated the last three innings, striking out five to earn the save.

The Vikings take on No. 2 Redmond (9-0, 12-3) on Tuesday at Valhalla, first pitch at 7 p.m.

 

Cougars shut out by Newport

The visiting Bothell High team was stifled by Newport ace Cole Wiper on Friday night, as the University of Oregon-bound senior went the distance while striking out nine Cougars in a 8-0 shutout.

For Bothell, Mitch Viydo, Ryan Morgan and Jon Mercer notched the team’s only hits as the Cougars fell to 7-2 in league play and 9-4 overall.

 

Viking fastpitch handcuffed by Woodinville

In an all-Northshore battle on the fastpitch diamond, No. 1 Woodinville used two big innings to down Inglemoor 15-0 at home on Friday night.

Falcons’ ace Madi Schreyer scattered five hits while striking out nine Vikings in a winning effort, while also ripping two home runs on offense, her second and third of the year.

For the Vikings, Lyndsey Porter notched two of the team’s five hits, including a double, as the Vikings fell to 3-2 in league play and 4-6 overall.

 

Bothell comes up big against Ballard

Playing at Lower Woodland Park on Friday against the Beavers, the Bothell fastpitch squad was facing a 6-3 deficit heading into the seventh inning, but pulled out an unanswered seven-spot to win the game 10-6.

Coming up huge for the Cougars was Arista Honey, who ripped a game-changing home run in the seventh as part of a 2-for-3 game, with Kendra Heyer going 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored and Julie Warner adding a double that drove in two.

The Cougars’ late burst made a winner of Savannah Rose, who went the distance while striking out four and walking just two.

With the win, Bothell improved to 2-2 in 4A Kingco play and 5-4 overall.
