Prep Roundup: Inglemoor’s Hubert scores game-winner against Roosevelt

Playing on the Spartans' home turf on Monday evening, the Inglemoor High baseball team put some runs on the board early and held on for a 7-5 4A Kingco victory.

Playing at Northeast Athletic Complex on Tuesday night against the Roughriders, the Vikings came up with a late second-half goal to win the 4A Kingco league matchup 2-1.

Roosevelt opened the scoring with a goal from Brooke Kassaye in the ninth minute, but the Vikings responded with a score in the 21st minute by Oliver Fahling off of Greg Hubert, and in the 66th minute Hubert took one to the net himself for the game-winner.

With the victory, Inglemoor improved to 3-5-1 overall on the season, which includes a 2-2-1 mark in league play.

 

Skyline tops Inglemoor tennis

The Vikings were swept in doubles action en route to a 5-2 defeat to the Spartans in a 4A Kingco tennis match on Tuesday afternoon.

Highlights for Inglemoor included No. 1 singles Jasmine Singh sweeping Kirsten Park 6-0, 6-0, and Hannah Talmage, at No. 4 singles, beating Kianna Bertolino 6-1, 6-3.

 

Viking baseball downs Skyline

Playing on the Spartans’ home turf on Monday evening, the Inglemoor High baseball team put some runs on the board early and held on for a 7-5 4A Kingco victory.

The Vikings led 5-0 after three and a half, only to see the Skyline battle back with two in the bottom half of the third and three more in the fifth to pull within two.

Viking reliever Lucas Wimmer shut the Spartans’ potent offense down, allowing one hit while striking out three to earn the save.

On offense, Emmett Maki had a night going 3-for-4 with three RBIs, with Connor Savage and Peter Meuisi both going 2-for-4.

Dustin Doucette earned the win, allowing five runs while striking out seven, to go 2-1 on the season.

Inglemoor’s record now stands at at even .500 in league play at 4-4 and 8-5 overall.

 

Big fourth powers Inglemoor past Roosevelt

The Inglemoor High fastpitch team jumped out to an early lead and played add-on in a 15-4 rout of the Roughriders on Monday night at home.

Leading 7-4 after three, a huge eight-run fourth inning sealed the victory for the Vikings as they won via the 10-run mercy rule after five frames.

Hayley Lowe got the win on the mound, allowing just two hits, while four Vikings posted two hits or more in the team’s 13-hit attack: Kylie Acacio (3-for-3, 2 runs, 2 RBI); Shelby Johnston (3-for-3, 3 runs); Tayler Peacocke (2-for-4, home run, 4 RBIs) and Lyndsey Porter (2-for-3, 2 runs) each got the job done at the plate.

With the win, Inglemoor improved to 3-0 in 4A Kingco play and 4-4 overall.

 

Cougars stymied by No. 1 Woodinville

The young Bothell fastpitch team faced a tall task in taking on the overwhelming state favorite Falcons, and fell 7-1 at Woodinville High on Monday night.

The Falcons scored in each of the first five innings, while starter Keelin Davis pitched a two-hit gem to lead Woodinville to victory.

The Cougars’ lone run came in the seventh as Tracy Rider singled and later scored to avoid the shutout.

With the loss, Bothell dropped to 0-2 in league play and 3-4 overall.
