Cross country
Inglemoor High’s Colin O’Neil placed fifth and Ashley Nichols took 14th at last Saturday’s 4A district cross-country meet to qualify for state Nov. 7 at Willows Run Golf Course in Pasco.
O’Neil and Nichols notched season-best times of 15 minutes, 8 seconds and 18 minutes, 28 seconds, respectively, on the 3.1-mile Kelso High course. It will be Nichols’ third straight state appearance.
For Bothell, Alan Villavicencio took sixth (15:11) and Kevin Holmes placed eighth (15:13) to make state.
Football
Inglemoor High’s season ended with 34-20 loss to Eastlake High last Saturday in a 4A Kingco crossover game.
Quarterback Derek Wagner connected with Craig Jacobson for scores of 18 and 20 yards and Tanner Sellman scored on a 13-yard run for the Vikings (5-4).
Volleyball
Four Cougars had double-digit kills in Bothell High’s 3-1 win over Eastlake High last Saturday in the first round of the 4A Kingco tournament.
Leading the pack were Sarah Norris (16 kills), Haley Bedell (15 kills), Allie Hadley (13 kills, 12 digs and four aces) and Brittany Packard (10 kills). Anna Buck set up a storm with 41 assists to go along with 11 digs and three aces and Zoe Iida defended strong with 24 digs.
