The force was with Bothell’s Brooke Powers on Wednesday.
The Bothell High softball team edged Issaquah, 10-9, in nine innings at Bothell High School.
The Cougars (5-13 overall, 2-11) trailed Issaquah by six runs following the top of the fifth inning. Powers came to the rescue in the bottom of the fifth, hitting a grand slam to center field.
The knock, Powers’ second of the game, drew Bothell within 9-8. A solo home run from Chloe Lium in the bottom of the sixth inning tied the game at nine.
Powers finished 2-4 with five RBIs and two home runs, while Lium was 3-5.
Liz Olson got the start, pitching four innings with five hits and three earned runs.
Powers pitched the final five innings with no hits, no runs and no walks.
The win is the first of the season against a team above Bothell in the league standings. The previous two wins had both come against Newport, which is 0-14 in KingCo 4A play.
Next, the Cougars are scheduled to play at 4 p.m. on Friday, May 6, at Mount St High School.
