On Oct. 4, the North Creek Jaguars played the Redmond Mustangs at Pop Keeney Stadium in Bothell. The North Creek High School students were hoping for a great first homecoming game and their football team did not disappoint.
In the first quarter of the game, North Creek scored a field goal and soon afterwards blocked a punt in the second quarter that eventually turned into another field goal.
As the second quarter continued, North Creek forced a Redmond fumble and recovered it in the end zone as a safety, putting two more points on the board for the North Creek Jaguars. With 54 seconds left before halftime, quarterback Jack Charlton brought the Jaguars down the field to score a touchdown and an extra point, raising their score up to 15-0. Right before the second quarter ended, the Redmond Mustangs scored a field goal. The halftime score was 15-3 with North Creek in the lead.
The North Creek Jaguars are making a name for themselves through their hard work and determination, which seems to be paying off. With nine minutes left in the third quarter, North Creek scored another touchdown. The third quarter ended 21-3.
As minutes in the fourth quarter ran out, North Creek made a 35-yard field goal closely followed with a Jaguar touchdown minutes later. With seconds left in the fourth quarter, the Redmond Mustangs scored their first touchdown of the game.
The final score was 31-10 and North Creek ended up winning their very first homecoming football game.
North Creek’s Shea Hoogerwerf scored two touchdowns and ran the ball 18 times for 125 yards, and Jaden Landagora scored once and toted the ball 16 times for 73 yards.
