In a double-final series, North Bothell Little League defeated Kenmore’s North Lake twice this week to win the 9-10-year-olds District 8 title.
North Bothell won, 10-6, on July 10 and then triumphed, 10-9, on July 11 at Northshore Athletic Fields. North Lake defeated North Bothell, 11-3, earlier in the tourney.
North Bothell began its three-game run to the title with a 4-3 win over North Central in the losers-bracket final on July 9. North Bothell finished 6-1 in the tourney and will next play Eastlake (District 9) at state at noon on Saturday at GSA Park in Auburn.
Against North Central, starting pitcher Nic Welp went 4 2/3 innings and allowed one earned run, and Christian Galvan closed the game with no runs allowed.
Against North Lake on July 10, starting pitcher Jacob Tuckner went 4 2/3 innings and allowed one earned run.
Julian Jackson, Ryne Hays and Tuckner all had doubles.
In the July 11 championship game, North Bothell and North Lake combined for 22 hits and the game featured five lead changes, with North Bothell holding onto its lead after the fourth inning.
For North Bothell, Leon Johnson went 3-for-3 with a double, Jackson and Nick Giesinger had two hits apiece and Jeremy Kollman had three RBIs.
Lefty Giesinger finished the game pitching 4 2/3 innings and allowed one run.
