Locals qualify for national youth cross-country championships in Alabama Dec. 11

Bothell’s Charlie Barringer will represent the four-state Northwest region at the USA Track and Field (USATF) National Youth Cross Country Championships on Dec. 11 in Hoover, Ala.

The Canyon Park Junior High eighth-grader won the Northshore School District varsity cross-country championship in October, and placed third in the USATF State Cross Country Meet in Seattle and eighth at regionals in Oregon this month.

He is one of only 20 runners in his age 13-14 group from Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Alaska to qualify for nationals.

Amber Rose from Kenmore, 13, placed 15th at regionals and also qualified for nationals.
