Junior catcher Sam Lee had a huge night on Monday during the Bothell High baseball team’s 4-3 win against division rival Inglemoor, going 3-for-4 with a home run and double.
After the Vikings got on the board in the first inning, Bothell responded as Zach Anderson stroked a double, one of two extra-base hits, and came around to score.
In the third, Lee turned on a pitch from Viking southpaw starter Danny Larsen, lifting it over the left-field fence for a two-run home run, with the Vikings answering back in the sixth for two runs to tie the game at 3-3.
The Cougars would end up walking off in extra innings, with Lee scoring the winning run after leading off with a base hit.
Leading the offense for Inglemoor was Tyler Beahan, who went 3-for-4 with a double.
The win was Bothell’s first in three Kingco games (2-5 overall) while Inglemoor dropped to 1-2 in league and 2-3 overall.
Inglemoor tops Liberty in slugfest
Offense was running wild in last Friday’s Inglemoor high fastpitch game against Liberty at home, with the Vikings winning an 11-10 nonleague slugfest.
Down 6-0, the Vikings put up three-spots in both the third and fourth innings to tie the game, and eventually walked off on the Patriots, coming from behind again with two in the seventh inning.
For Inglemoor, Lauren Brown went 3-for-3 with a home run, double and six RBIs, with Shelby Johnson and Izzy Riddle also notching multi-hit games.
The Viking offense bailed out starter Alyson Harrington, who got the win despite giving up eight earned runs. She struck out nine and walked nine in her complete-game effort.
With the win, the Vikings evened their record at 3-3 overall and get their league schedule started on Wednesday against Garfield on the road, at 4 p.m.
Growls rally, beat Cedar Park
The Overlake-Bear Creek Growls rallied from a 2-0 deficit to plate seven unanswered runs in a 7-2 win over the Cedar Park Christian Eagles on Monday night.
Growls’ starter Matt Kaiser pitched well, going the distance while striking out six, while he and Chris Finkelson both notched two hits on offense.
Cedar Park’s Josh McIntyre led the offense for the Eagles, going 2-for-3.
The win improved the Growls to 3-0 in 1A Emerald City League play and 5-1 overall, while the Eagles fell to 1-2 in league.
