Inglemoor High and Bothell High’s boys basketball teams are the last local 4A Kingco squads standing heading into this week’s postseason playoffs.

Inglemoor will travel to Garfield at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and Bothell will battle at Lake Washington at 7:30 p.m. the same night.

On Feb. 9, Woodinville’s senior-laden boys basketball squad came up big on the Falcons’ Senior Night and handily defeated Inglemoor, 74-61. The Vikings (9-7 in league and 12-8 overall at post time) also dropped a loss to Lake Washington, 62-55, on Friday.

One of the bright spots coming from the Vikings’ loss to Woodinville was the performance of junior guard Eric Bryant, who put in a game-high 24 points and shot a perfect 8-for-8 from inside the 3-point arc.

Bryant, the younger brother of former Viking guard Benji Bryant, has grown into his role as the team’s go-to guy, according to coach Greg Lowell.

“He’s becoming a more mature player, just by experience, offensively he’s been shooting the ball well, and he’s a quick kid… finding open guys to pass the ball to,” he said. “He’s really done a good job leadership-wise.”

Bryant, who is listed at 5-foot-8, doesn’t have the physical stature of his older brother, but he shares a bond with Benji and the Nwaelele brothers, the youngest of which, Andy, currently plays point guard for the Vikings.

“They’re always gonna say how their teams were always better,” said Bryant with a laugh about his older brother and the Nwaelele brothers.

“They give us little pointers here and there. They’re very supportive.”

While Lowell was undoubtedly disappointed about his team’s losses, with a postseason berth and the Kingco tournament this week, he was quick to acknowledge how far his young team has come since day one of practice.

“They’re a hard-working group,” he noted. “They’ve come a long way from the beginning of the year.”
