Thanks to 18 individual titles and four relay wins, the Inglemoor High Vikings won both the boys and girls championships of the Northshore District track-and-field meet on Friday.

Andy Palmer, Mickey Mukai and Austin Victor led the boys team with two individual wins apiece. Palmer won both the 100- (11.0 seconds) and 200- (22.5) meter sprints, while Mickey Mukai won the long jump (21-feet, 7 inches) and triple jump (41-0). Victor won both hurdles events, winning the 110 hurdles at 15.9 and the 300 hurdles at 41.9.

The boys team scored 84 points, ahead of Bothell’s 60 and Woodinville’s 37.

Brandon Thurston (shot put, 49-6.5) and Paul Ena (400, 52.0) won the other two boys individual titles. Inglemoor also won both relays, including the close 100 relay race when Inglemoor edged Woodinville by three-tenths of a second (43.7 to 44.0). Inglemoor also won the 400-meter relay with a time of 3:27.1 ahead of Bothell’s 3:30.7.

Trey Parry won two distance events to lead the Bothell contingent. Parry and fellow Cougar Ashkon Nima were the first two across the finish line in the 800, with Parry finishing with a personal-best 1:58.2. The junior also had a personal best in the 1,600 with a mark of 4:22.7 to take the title.

The Cougars won gold in two throwing events, with Jackson Pierce winning the discus at 149-4 and Steven Wilhelmy winning the javelin at 170-9.

On the girls’ side, Inglemoor sophomore Tess Parent equaled Mukai’s accomplishments by wining the long jump (16-2) and triple jump (36-1) as the Viks scored 98 points, with Woodinville scoring 68 and Bothell 23.

Sophomore McKenna Grimsby also followed Palmer’s lead by winning the 100 and 200 on the girls’ side. Her 200 time of 26.44 was a season best.

Inglemoor swept the three long-distance races, led by senior Rachel Williamson winning one of the closest races of the day. Her time of 2:22.3 in the 800 barely edged Bothell’s Alex Neil at 2:22.6.

Brittany Hungerford (1,600, 5:27.2) and Ashley Nichols (3,200, 11:50.6) also won their respective distance races.

Annika Juhlin (17.0) and Ericka McDaniel (51.5) won the 100 and 300 hurdle races, respectively, and Kate Lilly won the javelin with a toss of 119-8. Inglemoor also won both the 100 and 400 relay races.

The 4A Kingco championship preliminary meet is at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Liberty High, with the junior-varsity meet at 4 p.m. Thursday at Inglemoor High.

Baseball

Jon Ramos went 2-for-4, including a home run with two RBIs, as Cedar Park Christian won a crucial 1A Emerald City baseball game with Overlake, 4-3, on Friday. Connor Williams got the win in relief of Abe Potts, as Cedar Park scored one in the sixth inning to beat the Redmond rival and improve to 8-4 (13-7) on the year.

Cedar Park will make the playoffs, with a chance at the state tournament for the first time in four seasons.

Lacrosse

The Northshore lacrosse team ended the Cascade Conference season tied for first with a 9-1 record after knocking Redmond from the ranks of the unbeatens by winning, 7-6, in a Division II lacrosse match on Friday.

Inglemoor sophomore Taylor Wisman scored a hat trick and Bothell High sophomore Scott Barclay scored two goals and added two assists for Northshore, a team comprised of students from Bothell, Inglemoor and Woodinville. Foster Wisman, a Kenmore Junior High ninth-grader, scored a goal and had two assists.

This is the second season for Northshore, which will play a first-round playoff game against Nathan Hale on Wednesday at Bothell. That winner will play at Stadium on Friday.
