Inglemoor select girls’ team polishes off perfect season

The Inglemoor eighth-grade girls select basketball team won the Puget Sound Traveling League Championship last Sunday to cap off a perfect 14-0 season.

The Inglemoor eighth-grade girls select basketball team won the Puget Sound Traveling League Championship last Sunday at Juanita High School to cap off a perfect 14-0 season.

In the championship game, the Vikings defeated Bellevue, 57-37. Deja Strothers, a 6-foot-4 post, led all scorers with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Sammi Williams added 12 points, seven assists and four steals.

Earlier in the tournament, the Vikings routed Liberty, 66-32, and Snohomish, 61-33, en route to the title game.

For the tournament, Strothers racked up a tournament-high 69 points and 48 rebounds, and Williams poured in 12 points in each game for 36 total.

In two years under head coach Kellie Tuttle, the girls have not lost a league game, and earlier this year won a tournament down in Seaside, Ore., as well as the Glacier Peak MLK Day Tournament.
