Inglemoor may have walked away with a big conference victory on Friday evening at Bothell High School, but it was the Bothell High boys basketball team that walked away with a trophy.
Bothell clinched the 4A KingCo Conference title despite a 56-55 overtime loss in the cross-river rivalry after Eastlake survived to beat Skyline. Inglemoor completed a season sweep of Bothell.
The Cougars (10-4 KingCo, 15-5) led by eight at halftime and by seven midway through the third quarter, but Inglemoor (8-6, 9-10) finished the period with a flush — literally.
Senior Chinedu Ugokwoli’s dunk and a buzzer-beating 3-pointer from Ryan Hamilton pulled the Vikings within two after three quarters.
Hamilton beat the buzzer again, this time on a layup, to send the game to overtime tied at 48.
Inglemoor outscored Bothell 8-4 in the overtime period before a last-second 3-pointer from Jake Medjo pulled the Cougars within one.
The Vikings now move on to the loser-out round of the 4A KingCo tournament, and are scheduled to play Woodinville at 6 p.m. on Feb. 7 at a neutral site. Woodinville won both regular season games.
The winner will play Bothell at 7:45 p.m. on Feb. 10 in the conference semifinals.
Only the top two teams make the regional games: the winner of the championship game on Feb. 16 and the winner of the consolation game on Feb. 18, both at Lake Washington High School in Kirkland.
