Viking senior Jaxon Peay hit a pair of free throws with six second remaining to lift the Inglemoor High boys basketball team to a conference win over Eastlake on Tuesday in Kenmore.
Peay finished with 17 points and six rebounds as Inglemoor beat Eastlake 53-51 for the Vikings’ first win of the year.
Peay stepped up on an off night for senior Ryan Hamilton, who was 4-for-16 from the floor and finished with 10 points.
Inglemoor (1-2) led after the first quarter, but gave up a big second quarter and trailed at halftime. The Vikings outscored Eastlake 13-9 in the fourth quarter to win.
Next, Inglemoor is scheduled to play Skyline at 8 p.m. on Dec. 9 at home.
Bothell 73, Skyline 57.
The Cougars put on a show in the final five minutes of the game, turning a close KingCo battle into a blowout victory.
Bothell (4-0, 1-0) finished the game on a 17-0 run and scored the last nine points of the game from the free throw line.
Neither team held an advantage of more than seven points through the first three quarters, but following a bucket from Skyline’s Freddy Jarvis, the Spartans went cold. Bothell senior Cameron Tyson hit the go-ahead 3-pointer to give the Cougars a 59-57 lead, triggering an offensive landslide.
Senior forward Jake Medjo led the Cougars with 24 points and Tyson finished with 16 points.
Next, Bothell is scheduled to continue conference play with a road game against Eastlake at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 9 in Sammamish.
Kings 74, Cedar Park 41.
The Eagles ran up against the defending Class 1A state champions and lost a tough conference game on Tuesday in Shoreline.
Cedar Park (2-2, 0-1) scored just 10 points in the first half and finished with a season-low in points and gave up a season-high on defense.
Cedar Park junior George Reidy scored 23 points to lead the Eagles.
Corey Kispert led Kings with 23 points.
Next, Cedar Park is scheduled to play Sultan at 7 p.m. on Dec. 9 at home.
Girls basketball
Bothell 64, Skyline 52.
The Cougars rode the hot hand of sophomore Kelsey Hudson for a win in the conference opener on Tuesday in Bothell.
Hudson scored 21 points, including a big first half, for Bothell, which improved to 4-0 on the season an 1-0 in conference play. Taya Corosdale led the Cougars with 22 points and Keyonna Jones had 17 points.
The Cougars led 17-8 at the end of the first quarter and 35-19 at halftime.
Next, Bothell is scheduled to play Eastlake at 6 p.m. on Dec. 9 in Sammamish.
Cedarcrest 50, Cedar Park 20.
The Eagles lost for the second consecutive game on Tuesday, falling in the Cascade Conference opener.
Cedar Park (2-2, 0-1) is scheduled to play Sultan at 5:15 p.m. on Dec. 9 at home.
