Cougars crush Ballard, will take on Skyline Friday in title tilt

The Bothell High football team came away with a convincing 41-12 win over Ballard High last Friday night at Seattle’s Memorial Stadium in a 4A Kingco Crown division league game.

The Cougars put up 27 points in the first quarter on four scores, including three rushing touchdowns of 23, 6 and 8 yards by running back Luke Proulx, and a 21-yard touchdown pass from Braden Foley to senior Brad Monson.

Sophomore running back Danny Wilson led all rushers with 101 yards on 12 carries for the Cougars, which improved to 5-0 in league play and 7-1 overall.

Bothell will face off against Skyline in the 4A Kingco Championship game at 7 p.m. on Friday at Skyline High. Last year, the Cougars bested the Spartans in a thrilling battle 25-20.

Vikings beat Garfield on Homecoming night

The Inglemoor High football team celebrated homecoming with a 22-3 win over Garfield at Pop Keeney last Thursday, Oct. 21, with the win also securing the Vikings’ second-place finish in the Kingco Crown division.

Rick Gombotz launched two first-half field goals to go along with a 16-yard touchdown run by quarterback Mitchell Gunsolus as the Vikings built a 13-3 halftime lead, but the game was marred by four Garfield ejections following an out-of-bounds hit on Bulldogs’ quarterback Pierre Wright and an altercation early in the second half.

Earlier in the week, Garfield defensive coordinator Anthony Kelly and head coach Anthony Allen had resigned following the news that five ineligible players had taken the field in a Sept. 10 victory over Sammamish.

With the win, the Vikings improved to 4-1 in league play and 5-3 overall.
