The Inglemoor High boys swimmers delivered a number of solid performances at the Sea-King District 2 meet at the University of Washington Pavilion Pool last Saturday, placing fourth overall with 179 team points, trailing Roosevelt (208), Newport (198) and Issaquah (196.5).
Individual highlights for the Vikings included senior Sam Billett swimming a state-qualifying time of 1:48.90 in the 200-yard freestyle for third place; senior Michael Postetter placing fifth in the 50-yard freestyle sprint (23.50) and the 100-yard freestyle (50.71); Casey Collela placing second in the 500-yard freestyle with a season-best 4:53.80 and fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:03.82; and freshman Mateusz Merchel finishing runner-up in the 100-yard backstroke with a state-qualifying time of 57.33.
The Viking relay teams placed in all three relay events, with a high finish of third in the 400-yard freestyle relay. In that event, Postetter, Matt Yusen, Josaiah Clark and Billett combined for a state-qualifying time of 3:26.01.
For Bothell, freshman Matt Williamson placed twice, finishing fifth in the 200-yard individual medley (2:05.87) and sixth in the 500 free (5:01.68).
Williamson will represent the Cougars in both those events.
The 4A State Swim and Dive meet gets under way Friday with preliminaries starting at 9:45 a.m., with finals at 10 a.m. Saturday at the King County Aquatics Center in Federal Way.
