Bothell downed by Ballard goal in overtime
Searching for their first 4A Kingco win of the season against a tough Ballard team (2-0-0, 5-2-0), the Cougars fell just short as the Beavers’ Kyla Alvarenga scored with just over a minute left in the overtime period to seal Bothell’s 3-2 loss.
Bothell’s Samantha Mellick scored in the 8th minute off Brianna McIntosh to put the Cougars on the board, and Madison Williams scored late in the second half off Mackenzie Bean to give her team a 2-1 lead, but not before Ballard came up with a goal in the 79th minute to send the game to overtime.
With the loss, the Cougars dropped to 0-2-0 in league play and 3-4-0 overall.
