Playing in front of a large home crowd at the Bothell Christmas Tournament in a Wednesday evening nightcap against Bishop Blanchet, the Cougars had no trouble handling the Braves 66-52.
Bothell held a 31-21 lead at halftime, and extended their advantage to 15 after the third quarter, keeping the game out of reach.
For the Cougars, Perrion Callandret led all scorers with 22, followed by Zach LaVine with 16 and Prince Lacey with 11.
The Cougars play in the tournament semifinals tonight against Bellevue, again at 8:30 p.m. at Bothell High School.
Vikings eke out overtime win
Playing their opener at the Bellevue College Holiday Tournament, the Inglemoor Vikings edged out Renton in a thrilling overtime matchup, 68-64.
The Vikings held a sizable 50-36 lead after three quarters, before the Indians came all the way back to tie the game at 58-58 at the end of regulation.
In the overtime period, a tight defense held Renton to just six points, securing the Inglemoor victory.
For the Vikings, five players reached double digits in the team win, led by Cooper Danby with 14, and Sam Omondi and Travis Bobin with 13.
The boys’ team (2-6 overall) plays again tonight against Bear Creek, a team from the 2B Sea-Tac League, at 5:15 p.m. tonight at Bellevue College.
Lady Vikings rout Blanchet
The Inglmoor High girls’ basketball team defeated the visiting Bishop Blanchet in a rout last night during an exhibition game, beating them 73-40.
The Vikings were actually behind after the first quarter, only to storm ahead with 48 points in the middle two quarters to put the game away.
Taylor Peacocke led all scorers with 23 points, and Kelly Conroy also had a nice game with 14.
The girls improved to 5-3 overall with the win.
