Senior standout Brian McAfee of Bothell continued his stellar year with another dominating 4A Kingco performance, stifling Woodinville in a complete-game one-hitter, ending in a 2-0 Cougar victory.
McAfee took his no-hit bid into the seventh, giving up just a single to Shea Donlin.
McAfee has not allowed a run in his last five starts, spanning 34 innings, striking out 45 and lowering his ERA to 0.62.
The Cougars (10-2, 13-4) next play Northshore rival Inglemoor (7-5, 11-6) at home tonight at 6 p.m. In their previous meeting this season, the Cougars rode McAfee to a 3-0 shutout win.
Viking bats come alive in Ballard rout
The Inglemoor Vikings put up 11 runs in the second inning en route to a 17-6 thrashing of the Beavers at Valhalla on Tuesday night in a 4A Kingco Crown Division matchup.
The Vikings’ big inning included nine hits and was highlighted by a two-run shot by Mitchell Gunsolus.
Both Emmett Maki and Connor Savage notched three-hit games with Garrett Vandiver banging out two hits and scoring three times, and sophomore Brandon Edwards knocking in three runs in his first start.
The win improved Inglemoor to 7-5 in league play and 11-6 overall.
Cougars fall, Vikings draw in Kingco soccer
The Bothell Cougars lost 5-1 to Issaquah on Tuesday night at home, with the Cougars getting on the board in the 75th minute with Adam Long’s shot off a feed from Alex Gosselin.
Bothell dropped to 1-6-1 in league play and 2-7-2 overall.
The Redmond High and Inglemoor soccer teams were locked in a defensive battle on Tuesday night at Redmond High School in a 4A Kingco soccer match, ending in a 1-1 draw.
Early in the second half Inglemoor’s Justin Li scored on a Mehron Abdi assist, and two minutes later the Mustangs scored the equalizer as Jose Ocampo fed Andrew Leadbeater in the 45th minute to close the scoring.
With the tie, Inglemoor remained in the middle of the 4A Kingco conference pack at 4-3-2 (5-6-2).
