The Cedar Park Christian boys basketball team traveled to Oakland, Calif., last week for the Head-Royce Holiday Classic and lost a pair of close games, 50-44 to St. Vincent De Paul, and 57-48 to the California School of Deaf (CSD).
In the consolation match, the Eagles fell behind as CSD poured on the offense early, taking a 35-19 lead into halftime.
The Eagles, behind the 23 points of Victor Sviridyuk, battled back to within seven, 45-38, but could not close the gap any further.
Cedar Park dropped to 3-5 overall and remained 2-1 in league play.
Cedar Park girls win one, lose one in Chelan
The Lady Eagles took a road trip to Chelan High for the Chelan Holiday Tournament last week and split a pair of games.
Cedar Park bounced back from a 63-22 rout to tournament host Chelan to beat Lake Roosevelt, 61-48, in the consolation match.
In the finals, standout Rachel Staudacher poured in a season-high 33 to pace the Eagles as they coasted to the win, never trailing after the first quarter of play.
Mikaela Raschick added 15 for the Eagles, who improved to 7-1 overall this season. The girls resume their league schedule Friday at home against Bellevue Christian, tipoff at 5:45 p.m.
At press time, both Cedar Park and Bellevue Christian were 4-0 in the 1A Emerald City League and among the 1A state top-ranked teams by maxpreps.com.
The Bellevue Christian-Cedar Park boys game is at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Cedar Park.
