The Cedar Park Christian football team tasted defeat for the first time this season, 28-23, in a loss to Cedarcrest on Friday.
The Eagles began the game with a slim 3-0 lead, as Bradley Cumley hit a 34-yard field goal for the only points of the first quarter.
Cedarcrest took its first lead of the game during the second quarter on a 23-yard touchdown run but failed on the extra point attempt. The Wolves extended their lead to 13-3 on the opening kickoff of the second half with an 83-yard return for a touchdown.
Cedar Park pulled back within four points on a Noah Anglin 37-yard touchdown run to end the third-quarter scoring. A failed two point conversion left the the team from Bothell behind at 13-9.
The Eagles scored on their next possession, a two-yard run by Hunter Green, to claim their first lead of the game since the first quarter. Dave Boak converted the next play for two more points and Cedar Park extended that lead to 17-13.
However, Cedarcrest would score touchdowns on its next two possessions to take a 28-17 lead. A late flurry of offense was not enough for the Eagles to overcome the deficit, scoring on a 43-yard pass from Jaden Sheffey to Andrew Britton for the final points of the game.
Dspite not scoring, Jack Flynn was the Eagles’ leading rusher with 67 yards.
