The Seattle Community College men’s basketball team — featuring Inglemoor High alum Wil Bush — is getting ready for its 5th Annual Free Throws for Charity fund-raiser in which players will shoot free throws to raise money for the Seattle Humane Society at 4 p.m. Oct. 14 at the North Seattle campus gymnasium.
Every year, players collect pledges on a per-free-throw basis, and then gather to shoot 100 each, coaches included. “This is a great opportunity to combine basketball with helping out the community,” says head coach Kyle Gray, adding “the players always have a lot of fun.” The team has set an earning goal of $2,200 for this year’s fund-raiser.
In the past, the Storm has donated to the King County Coalition for the Homelessness, American Red Cross, American Cancer Society and Children’s Hospital. For more information about this event, call (509) 961-7011 or visit wwww.freewebs.com/seattleccmensbasketball.
Last year, Bush garnered all-league honors as the only freshman to make the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges (NWACC) North Division second team and is looking to be a strong contender for MVP this season.
