Boys basketball

• Playing in a nonleague game against Juanita, visiting Inglemoor won, 53-46, last Friday.

Senior guard Benji Bryant led the Viks with 16, Adam McElwee finished with 15 and Todd Campbell had 10.

• Devin Willis poured in 16 points for Bothell, but it wasn’t enough as Roosevelt won, 55-47, on Friday.

Cougar senior guards Brandon Spitz-Auld and Kurt Stottlemyer each contributed nine points.

• Tommy McCullough led Cedar Park Christian with 18 points and Ethan Gutheil had 12 in the team’s 57-38 loss to Darrington on Saturday.

Last Tuesday, Adam Lynch suited up to coach his first varsity game, but South Whidbey defeated the Eagles, 52-35. McCullough led the Eagles’ scoring with 11 points.

Ethan Gutheil adds his perspective on the first game of the year: “We showed flashes of what our potential is; we know how good we can be. We made mistakes, but we learned from it.”

Girls basketball

• Inglemoor improved its nonleague record to 3-0 with a close win against Bellevue in the Les Schwab Tipoff Classic, 43-41, on Saturday.

Point guard Alex Nelson led the Viks’ scoring with 12, closely followed by Lynsey Sandum with 11.

• Cedar Park played its heart out for a 47-41 win against South Whidbey last Tuesday. Unfortunately, coach Sara Land was unable to be there due to the birth of her daughter the night before. The Eagles called their coach after the game to tell her the good news.

Freshman Mattie Shelford stole the spotlight with 22 points.
