Football
Led by two touchdowns and 291 all-purpose yards by Jacob Simmons, Cedar Park Christian won its first game of the season, 20-17, over La Conner Sept. 12.
Simmons ran the ball 22 times for 123 yards and a 3-yard score, had one touchdown catch for 42 yards and had three returns for 126 yards.
He was named the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association 1A State Athlete of the Week.
Also for the Eagles, Ben Fuchs scored on a 101-yard interception return.
• Last Friday night, Issaquah defeated Inglemoor, 36-7, at Pop Keeney Field.
Paul Ena scored the lone Viking touchdown on a 30-yard pass reception from Todd Campbell.
Girls soccer
Cedar Park Christian defeated The Bear Creek School, 4-0, Sept. 15 on two goals from Rachel Stautacher and one each from Nicolette Clark and Liz Cummings. Goalie Jena Blanchard had the shutout.
Cross country
Billy Wilkens ran a top time of 17 minutes, 53 seconds to lead Inglemoor High to a boys victory last week on the 3.1-mile Big Finn Park course. The Vikings finished with 50 points.
Bothell, led by a second-place run by Alan Villaviavicenia (17:59), took second with 61 points.
On the girls’ side, Woodinville placed first with 69 points, followed by Inglemoor with 72.
Tops for Inglemoor were Ashley Nichols (21:47) and Brittany Hungerford (21:56), who finished in sixth and seventh places, respectively.
Boys tennis
Inglemoor defeated Lake Washington, 6-3, Sept. 18 in 4A Kingco Crown Division action.
Winning at singles were Ryan Mayo (No. 1), Trevor Shih (No. 2), Cole Houghton (No. 3), Jerry Jiang (No. 5) and Jesse Miller (No. 6).
At doubles, the No. 3 team of Russ Burkland-Kyle Chang was victorious.
“Our second win keeps us at the top of the division and our new players have given us some depth in the lower positions,” said coach Chris Samuel.
