Bothell resident Tim Watanabe recently bowled four solid games for his first career 9-Tap Tour victory during the tour’s Elite Division stop at Kenmore Lanes.
Competing in the first of three afternoon squads, Watanabe fired games of 266, 246, 222 and 240 to shoot a 1094 total (with handicap), which gave him a 16-pin victory over Kyle Nichols of Blaine, who fired a perfect 300 in his final game for a 1078.
Watanabe, who also won the Greater Seattle OktoberFest tournament held at Kenmore Lanes last fall, earned $597 for his efforts.
The 9-Tap Tour is a fun and competitive tournament series that travels to various bowling centers around the Puget Sound region. The regular Tour is handicapped and open to bowlers averaging 120-215, while the Elite Tour welcomes bowlers with averages of 200 or higher.
All bowling on the tour is no-tap, which means scoring nine pins on your first ball of a frame counts as a strike.
