The Bothell girls volleyball squad lost a nip-and-tuck battle to the Knights at Newport High on Monday night, 3-1, in its 4A Kingco opener. For the Cougars, Katie Arneson notched 10 kills, followed by Peircen Lindquest with nine to go along with six service aces. Setter Allie Hadley notched 23 assists. With the loss, the Cougars dropped to 1-4 overall.

• Inglemoor had a tough go in its league opener against a tall and talented Issaquah Eagles squad on Monday night, getting swept 3-0. With the loss, Inglemoor dropped to 2-3 overall.
