The Bothell High School track and field teams will participate in the 4A KingCo Championship meet today at Woodinville High School after completing the regular season as two of the top teams in the league.
The Cougars beat both Garfield and Newport last Thursday in Bellevue to finish the regular season.
The boys won seven of 17 events during the meet. Ryan Croson won three events, the 100 meters, triple jump and was a part of the 400-meter relay team with Kevin Liu, Damien Bassett and Daniel Summers for Bothell.
Colton Sather won the 400 meters for the Cougars, while teammates Chris Vong won the 800 meters, Johan Brusa won the 1,600 meters and Kyle Murphy won the pole vault event.
The girls won eight of 18 events during the meet. Maya Harewood won the 100 meters, 200 meters and was a part of the 400-meter relay team with Cougars Katie Bellusci, Sophie Bowles and Sarah Stavig. Bellusci also won the 400 meters, while teammates Stephenie Spencer won the 1,600 meters, Martha Quigg won shot put, Kristen Drew won the high jump and Katey Kirkham took first in the triple jump for the Cougars.
The girls finished fourth overall during the Lake Washington Invitational on Saturday.
The girls also broke the meet record in the 400-meter relay in a time of 47.87 seconds, narrowly edging Federal way by just .01 seconds. Bothell was also led by Stavig and Harewood in the 100 and 200 meters, Spencer in the 3,000 meters and Nicole Brendamuhl in the high jump.
The boys track team competed at the Shoreline Invitational on Saturday. Charlie Barringer shattered a 40-year-old school record in the 3,200 meters by six seconds and placed fifth overall.
The Cougars were also led by Halligan in the high jump and Croson in the 400 meters.
