Both the Bothell Cougars and Inglemoor Vikings took care of business in week eight 4A Kingco football action and will be playing with their playoff lives at stake this weekend during the week nine Kingco crossover games.
On Friday night at Pop Keeney, Bothell got off to a roaring start in a 49-22 victory over Ballard, eliminating the Beavers from the playoff picture.
The Cougars scored six touchdowns before the Beavers got on the board, four on the ground and two in the air – with Danny Wilson running in scores of two and 11 yards.
Late in the second quarter, quarterback Austen Dahl extended the lead to 35-0 with a 45-yard fumble return.
The Bothell defense shined, as the Beavers lost a total of 65 rushing yards for the game.
With the win, the Cougars improved to 4-1 in Kingco Crown Division play (5-3 overall) and will play Newport (1-3, 4-4) at 7 p.m on Saturday night at Pop Keeney Stadium for the No. 4 seed to the playoffs.
The Vikings (3-2, 5-3) routed Garfield 35-0 at Memorial Stadium last Friday night, and they will play Issaquah (2-2, 6-2) at 7 p.m. on Friday at Pop Keeney.
Eagles rout Chimacum for fourth straight win
The Cedar Park Christian Eagles won their fourth consecutive Nisqually 1A Conference win last Friday night at home in a 49-7 rout over Chimacum.
Running back Andrew Rickman scored three rushing touchdowns, leading the team with 135 yards gained on 11 plays, with teammates Daniel Watts (110 yards, 2 TDs) and Connor Johnson (109 yards, 1 TD) both having outstanding nights.
In total, the Eagles rushed for a season-high 501 yards on the ground.
The Eagles improved to 5-2 in league play and 7-2 overall, and will take on the Vashon Island Pirates in their final regular-season game next Friday, on the road, at 7 p.m.
