The Bothell High football team needed a touch of magic on Friday night.

The Bothell High football team needed a touch of magic on Friday night.

The magic came by way of senior Daniel Johnson, who scored on a 98-yard kickoff return to start the second half. Johnson’s go-ahead strike was the difference, as Bothell went on to claim a 34-12 victory over Kentwood on Friday at French Field in Kent.

The kick return broke a stale, defensive game into a open second half. Parker Chamberlin rushed four times, scoring three touchdowns and finishing with 21 yards.

Alex Indelicato led Bothell in rushing yards for the second straight week, gaining 73 yards on 12 carries.

Quarterback Jacob Sirmon completed 18 of 29 passes for 220 yards, hitting Johnson six times for 47 receiving yards.

Junior Da’Vicious Wilson recovered a first-half fumble in the end zone to tie the game after Kentwood (0-2) took an early lead.

Next, Bothell is scheduled to begin conference play at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16 at Mt. Si High School.
