Bothell hands Gracier Peak first loss | Prep football

The Bothell High School football team handed Glacier Peak its first loss of the season, 42-23, Friday night in Snohomish.

Cougar running back Sam McPherson found the end zone four times during the contest to lead Bothell to the win. McPherson wasted no time getting into the end zone, scoring from eight-yards out to cap Bothell’s opening 60-yard drive.

McPherson scored on a pass play during Bothell’s next drive, as quarterback Ross Bowers completed a screen pass to the running back that went for a 56-yard touchdown.

Glacier Peak finally got on the board during its next possession, but the Cougar offense got those six points back in a hurry. Bowers connected with Dayzell Wilson for a touchdown and the 21-6 lead.

Peak posted three points before halftime but McPherson put the game out of reach. He took the opening second-half kick off 98 yards for a touchdown and then score on a 26-yard touchdown run on the Cougar’s ensuing possession, piling up a 35-9 lead.

The Cougars’ final score of the game was a nine-yard touchdown pass from Bowers to Jackson Keirnig.

Glacier Peak was ranked No. 6 in the state at the 3A level prior to the home game. It is the second consecutive year the Cougars have blown out the north-end team.

Bothell is now 5-1 on the season with its only loss coming to top ranked Bellevue.
