The red-hot Falcons (6-0) moved one step closer to a 4A Kingco Crown Division title with a 24-14 win over Bothell on Friday night at Pop Keeney Stadium.
Woodinville roared out of the gate, scoring on a 56-yard touchdown run by Alek Kacmarcik and again on a short run, taking a 14-0 lead that got extended to 21-0 in the second quarter.
Bothell attempted a rally, however, as Aaron Wilks caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Austen Dahl. In the third quarter, freshman quarterback Ross Bowers nailed a leaping Trent Sewell in the end zone for a touchdown to pull the Cougars within 10, but the Falcon defense prevented the Cougars from any more scoring opportunities.
For the game, the Cougars were held to just 30 yards rushing while the Falcons were able to gain 298 yards on 54 plays on the ground.
Dahl finished 9-for-14 for the game for 61 passing yards, while Bowers had a 7-for-14 night for 119 yards, including a 68-yard bomb to Wilks.
With the loss, the Cougars dropped to 2-1 in division play and 3-3 overall. They take on Garfield (0-3, 1-5), who had five players ejected and suspended for last weekend’s bench-clearing brawl against Ballard, this Friday night at Memorial Stadium at 7 p.m.

Cedar Park’s late score lifts Eagles over Cascade Christian
It was a back-and-forth battle, but the 1A Cedar Park Christian Eagles pulled out a 20-14 win last Saturday night against Cascade in a Nisqually 1A Conference game.
Quarterback Josh Ionesi got the Eagles on the board with a 1-yard run in the first quarter, but Cascade answered with two touchdown passes from quarterback Jaelin Goldsmith Josh Shrefler of 18 and 34 yards to give Cascade a 14-6 lead in the third quarter.
Ionesi made it a one-possession game with an 18-yarder to Steve Hunsaker, but after a failed two-point conversion, the Eagles still had to score in the fourth quarter.
They did just that when speedy running back Andrew Rickman ran in an eight-yarder in the fourth quarter and the Eagles’ defense shut down Cascade for the rest of the game.
With the win, the Eagles improved to 3-2 in conference play and 5-2 overall. They take on Orting this Friday, in Orting, at 7 p.m.
