Playing in the winner-to-state, loser-out pigtail game against the Greater Puget Sound League champion Heritage High on Saturday morning in Vancouver, the Bothell High fastpitch team was routed, 10-0, in five innings.
To make it to the consolation bracket finals, the Cougars beat Skyline, 10-3, and pulled off an upset victory over Crest Division champion Eastlake, 4-2, before losing 12-0 to state-bound Inglemoor.
Playing in their third game of the day, the Cougars’ offense lit up in an 11-5 victory over the charging Redmond Mustangs, who plowed through the consolation bracket with three wins during Thursday’s play before succumbing to the Cougars.
In the victory over Redmond, Bothell plated seven runs in the first inning and tacked on three more in the sixth to pull away.
Carmen Mowrey went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and was a home run away from the cycle, and Arista Honey went 2-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs.
Savannah Rose gave up three runs over six innings of work for the win.
The Cougars finished the season with a 12-11 record.
