The Bothell High School football team earned its first win of the season with a 34-10 thumping of Newport on Saturday at Pop Keeney Stadium.
The Cougars were dominant during the first quarter, building a 14-0 lead on a 30-yard Damani St.John-Watkins touchdown run and a 27-yard touchdown pass from Jacob Sirmon to Kevin Lui.
But Newport showed life during the second quarter, cutting the lead to just four points by halftime.
An eight-yard touchdown run by St. John-Watkins gave Bothell an 11-point lead to start the second half. St. John-Watkins following that up with a one-yard touchdown run to open the fourth quarter.
Sirmon found Peter Davis for a 10-yard touchdown pass to cap the game’s scoring.
Bothell will travel to Mount Si to take on the Wildcats at 7 p.m. on Friday.
