The Bothell High School volleyball team waged a big comeback against Monroe High School on Tuesday but could not put the visitor away, losing 3-2.
The Cougars dominated the first game of the contest 25-14 but then lost the next two games, scoring a total of just 18 points.
Bothell regained some momentum by winning the fourth game, 25-23, but lost the tiebreaker, 17-15.
The Cougars were led by Reese Laufasa with 29 assists and 19 digs, while Karly Ernster had 18 kills.
Bothell will travel to Jackson High School for a 7 p.m. match on Thursday.
