ESPN is ranking the Bothell High School boys basketball team 25th in its national list of the best teams.
The ranking was released on Jan. 15 and it is the first time the Cougars have been featured on the national list this season. Bothell is ranked No. 1 in the state by the Associated Press and in most other state polls.
Only 11 teams on the list, including Bothell, are undefeated.
The Cougars have pushed their record to 14-0 overall and 9-0 in league play. Bothell is one of just one of nine on the list west of the Mississippi and four on the West Coast.
The team boasts two Division I college recruits in Zach LaVine (UCLA) and Perrion Callandret (Idaho). LaVine is averaging a little less than 28 points per game, while Callandret is better than 15 points per game.
The addition of Josh Martin at center has bolstered the team’s inside presence and the junior is averaging 14 points per game.
