The Cougars did a lot of their damage in the sprint events. On the oval, sprinters Dylan Langston (11.08 seconds) and Trent Sewell (11.26) finished 1-2 in the 100 meters, with teammate Luke Proulx taking third in the 200 right behind Langston. Bothell took four of the five top spots in the 400 meters behind Garfield standout Byron Howell.

Distance specialist Colin O’Neil of Inglemoor placed second in both the 1600 (4:23.65) and 3200 (9:28.63).

Bothell’s speedy relay squads took first both times as Proulx, Will McIntyre, Nick Anthony and Sewell combined for 43.21 in the 400 relay, and Chayce Sather, Anthony, Chris Arneson and Sewell took the 1600 in 3:25.40.

The Cougars also shined in the field events, with Braden Foley winning the javelin by a foot with a toss of 165 feet, 9 inches; Brendan Peterson cleared 50 feet in the shot put to place second, and Greg Williams’ discus toss of 147-2 was also good for a runner-up finish.

Inglemoor’s Erik Strathy and Sean Mukai both cleared 5-10 on the high jump bar to earn points for the Vikings, with Sean and his brother Shamus both clearing 13-6 in the pole vault.

On the girls’ side, the Vikings tied for first with Redmond with 109 team points.

Highlights for the Vikings included Brooke Monson placing second in the 200 (26.15), and Tansey Lystad taking second in the 3200 (11:13.42).

Hurdlers Erin Allen and Becca Berge finished first and second in a dead heat at 15.36 in the 100 meter event, with the pair also finishing 1-2 in the 300 meters.

In the field, Viking Emily K. Anderson’s javelin toss of 114-10 was just a fraction short of Woodinville’s Melissa Gilkey for second place, and Bothell junior Evana Enabulele took third in the shot put with a heave of 33-10.

Hannah Stevenson placed third in the long jump (16-5), and sixth in the triple jump (33-1.75).

The teams next participate at the 4A Northwest Regionals, which takes place at Quil Ceda Stadium in Marysville on Wednesday and Friday starting at 3:30 p.m.
