The Bothell High School football team completed its climb back to .500 Thursday after starting the season with a surprising 0-3 record, as the fifth-ranked team in the state.

The Cougars blasted Glacier Peak on the ground as runningback Danny Wilson ran for 166 yards and three touchdowns during the 41-14 victory.

But Wilson was not the only weapon for the Cougars, as runningback Darrin Laufasa nearly hit the century mark with 86 yards on the ground.

Bothell began the game strong, scoring twice during the first quarter, both on the legs of Wilson. First, the runningback busted free from behind his offensive line and rumbled for 61 yards on the ground for a touchdown.

Then, Wilson took a pass from Ross Bowers 33 yards for a touchdown. Wilson hit the end zone a third time at the start of the second quarter on a 46-yard run to give the Cougars a 20-0 lead. But that was just the beginning of the scoring for the quarter. The team’s next score was from just one yard out, as Laufasa crossed the goal line.

The Cougars took to the air as Bowers found teammate Will McIntyre for a 49-yard strike to the end zone. Bowers again found the end zone, hitting Jared Berry on a 36-yard pass play. Bowers finished the game with 12-of-15 on pass attempts for 215 yards and three touchdowns. Glacier Peak scored both of its touchdowns during the fourth quarter.

The loss for Peak is its first of the season, dropping them to 5-1. For the Cougars, it gets the team back on track after a surprising start to the season.
