Bothell struck first, as Seymour Ottorbech ran in a 27-yard score, and later in the first quarter Alec Yarno kicked a 20-yard field goal to put Cougars up 10-7.

The Braves’ starting quarterback, Justin Hordyk, rushed and passed for touchdowns in the second and third quarters to go along with a field goal, giving Bethel a 24-10 lead.

Cougar quarterback Austen Dahl, a senior playing his final game for Bothell, broke through late in the third quarter for a 27-yard touchdown, and in the fourth quarter, Bethel was held scoreless while running back Danny Wilson trotted 47 yards into the end zone.

Down 24-22, the attempted game-tying two-point conversion failed, ending Bothell’s run.

For the game, Wilson led all rushers with 124 yards on 13 carries, with Ottorbech adding 75.

The Cougars played mistake-free football, never fumbling or getting intercepted, while only getting hit with one penalty for five yards the entire game.

In addition, the 24 points Bothell allowed Bethel to score was the lowest total the Braves (8-2) have put up all season.

Bothell ended its season with a record of 6-4.

 

Cedar Park outlasts Nooksack Valley

Making a long road trip to Bellingham’s Civic Stadium on Friday night to take on Nooksack Valley, the Eagles kept their season alive with a 24-21 win.

Brent Reitt, Daniel Watts and Andrew Rickman each scored rushing touchdowns for the Eagles, and Michael Holmquist ended up booting the game-winning field goal, from 34 yards, in the fourth quarter.

The Eagles piled up 303 yards on the ground, led by Daniel Watts’ 103 on 17 carries, followed by Rickman’s95.

Rickman also shined on defense with eight tackles.

With the win, the Eagles improved to 8-2 and go on to face Montesano next Saturday, at a place and time to be determined.
