We are reading and hearing about Mr. Trump’s nominees for leadership in his administration. The nominee to lead the EPA is Alabama Attorney General Scott Pruitt. Mr. Pruitt denies the scientifically established human cause of abnormal global warming. This warming has already harmed our earth with more severe storms, droughts, sea level rise, and increased starvation of wild animal deaths in and on the oceans. Continued denial by the United StatesTrump administration will further delay worldwide actions to reverse this abnormal warming, although some abnormal warming may already be irreversible.
How can we select someone who cares so little about our environment to be our country’s environmental leader? We shouldn’t. We should contact our U.S. Senators Murray and Cantwell, and ask them to do anything they can to resist the approval confirmation of Mr. Pruitt as the EPA administrator by the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee as well as their Republican colleagues in the Senate, if his nomination comes up for approval in the entire Senate.
The earth is our home and will be our grandchildren’s home and all that come after. We must protect it.
