The privatization of a public state park makes me feel sick. Parks used to be about enjoying nature.
A community education center for all residents would have been the better and more democratic choice. A hotel for the rich and additional housing for students attending a very expensive education facility do not belong in this unique state park.
State Parks are for walkers, hikers, nature watchers, picnickers, birders and campers, right? No? Not in this brave new world? Well, they used to be.
Public input or not, this project marches on in spite of all opposition. A hotel is taking over what is possibly the prime real estate location in all of Kenmore.
I am curious; why has the state withdrawn funding for parks, why is the state park system so needy, or is it greedy? What is the money trail on this project?
