January 31,1945 – January 28, 2017
Pam died peacefully after a 34 year struggle with brain cancer. Her “Never Give Up” spirit was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was an accomplished and energetic artist, businesswoman, and beloved mother and friend. Her story and her art touched all, but most of all it was her joyful smile and her “I love you’s” reaching out to even strangers that endeared her to us.
Born in S. CA, she moved to Friday Harbor, WA and subsequently to Bothell, WA where she established a successful, nationwide art business, Dungan’s Rainbow. In 1983, she was diagnosed with her first brain tumor, and her life changed forever.
Active in civic affairs, Pam served on the Woodinville Chamber of Commerce, was very active in the Brain Tumor Association of WA, and was a frequent inspirational speaker.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Jimi, her mother, Jean and her father, Sam Rehwald. She is survived by her children: Mike McElhenie, Kathleen McElhenie, and Kelly Dungan, and 3 grandchildren: Michael McElhenie, Nia and Cecilia McElhenie, and her sisters: Tina Richards, Heidi Brandt and Heather Rehwald.
Her family is also very grateful to the loving care and support she received her last 3 years at the Ida Culver House, Broadview, in Seattle, and from Providence Hospice of Washington.
Memorial Service will be held at Seattle Unity Church, 200 8th Ave N, Seattle 98109 on February 17 at 3 pm. Donations in Pam’s name to www.braintumor.org are suggested in lieu of flowers.
