He was the first person on his ship to get word WWII was over. He was honorably discharged as a Yeoman first class in 1946, went to business school at the University of Washington, and worked in various capacities for Texaco for 35 years. In 1982 he took a lump sum early retirement from Texaco and invested successfully in the stock market. Up until four years prior to his death he swam a mile every day at the Bothell YMCA which earned him the President’s Fitness Award in 2002. Jim brought intense joy to every person he met. If making others feel wonderful was an Olympic sport, Jim would have won thousands of gold medals.A memorial service will be held at Canyon Hills Community Church, Bothell Washington, on May 22nd at 2:00pm.
