Iona June (Leggett) Klein
Iona June (Leggett) Klein, 83, passed away on June 30, 2009 in Kirkland, WA. Iona was born on January 9, 1926 in Fort Collins, CO. She was one of four girls, raised on her family’s 100 acre farm in Wapella, IL. Iona married the love of her life, Wayne on March 17, 1945. Wayne and Iona lived in Hinsdale, IL and had two daughters, Pamela and Marsha, before moving to Sunland, CA in 1953. Due to Iona’s declining health, in 2000 they moved from their retirement home in Grants Pass, OR to Bothell, WA to be closer to family who could help care for them.Iona was an amazing woman with such a strong spirit (she was a 47 year breast cancer survivor). She was a simple farm girl with sparkling blue eyes and an endearing smile, plus she made the best margaritas in the world! Iona was loving, giving, unselfish and had a wonderfully sweet heart made of pure gold. Through her love and commitment to family, Iona leaves us with a legacy of strength, grace and unconditional love. Iona is survived by her husband of 64 years, Wayne R. Klein; Daughters, Pamela Boudreaux & Marsha Barrow; Sister, Marjorie (Leggett-Borland) & Lynn Lamont; 12 Grandchildren and 9 Great-Grandchildren, Jack, Janien & Sydney Boudreaux; Jeannette, Mike, Lillian & Joseph Alfonso; Scott, Marleen & Nathan Boudreaux; William Boudreaux; Steven Boudreaux; Jonathan, Angela, Eleanor, Logan & Natalie Barrow; Kristen, Bryan, Jacob & Ethan Wiley; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.A celebration of Iona’s life will take place in Bothell, WA on August 16, 2009 at 12:00 pm at the home of her husband and daughter.
