Carolyn Louise Hamilton Erigero | Obituary

Carolyn Louise Hamilton Erigero died in Redmond at Redmond Heights Senior Living on July 19, 2022, after losing her battle with depression and chronic pain. Carolyn was born November 22, 1953 and raised in Stockton, California graduating from Lincoln High School in 1971, San Joaquin Delta College in 1973 and

California State University Chico in 1975, majoring in Early Childhood Education. Her parents, Keith Hamilton and Elnore Nimitz Hamilton, owned and operated Avenue Books and PIP Printing locations in Stockton where Carolyn worked as general manager and bookkeeper. At the bookstore, she met the man who would become her husband, Philip “Phil” Erigero and together they prepared to welcome two children, Jennifer “Jenne” de Normandie Erigero and Joseph “Joey” Hamilton Erigero (stillborn 1986). After the death of her husband Phil in 1999 and having a stroke which left her weakened in 2010, she moved to Washington to live with her only surviving child. Together she lived in a multigenerational household with Jenne and her son in law, Peter, and their children in the city of Bothell for 12 years. Her grandchildren will remember her most for the time they spent cuddling, visiting local parks, creating art together, learning about musicals and reading stories.

Carolyn was an avid reader, lover of Broadway musicals, art history, music and world religion.

She is best known for being a compassionate and understanding listener and many will remember her for how heard and loved they felt in her presence. For many years, she volunteered with the Friends of the Library and served her faith community by sending birthday cards to the women on behalf of the Bothell ward Relief Society of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She recently took up the hobby of writing postcards for local political candidates, including for her daughter Jenne Alderks who was elected to a position on Bothell’s City Council earlier this year.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Keith and Elnore Hamilton, her brother Roger Hamilton, her husband Phil and their son Joey Hamilton Erigero. Carolyn is survived by her brother Charlie Hamilton of Stockton, her daughter and son-in-law Jenne Erigero Alderks and Peter Alderks and grandchildren Anika, Carolyn Belle “Jinx” and Elizabeth de Normandie of Bothell.
