A female driver traveling the wrong way on State Route 522 was killed early this morning when her vehicle collided head-on with another car.

The collision took place around 5:50 a.m., as the wrong-way vehicle was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane just west of Interstate 405.

The woman died at the scene and the driver of the second vehicle was take to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to Washington State Trooper Dominic Ledesma.

SR 522 was closed just after the crash to all drivers heading west into Bothell from Woodinville.

“We just got the road open,” Ledesma said at 9:30 a.m. “We don’t believe that alcohol or drugs were a factor.”

The identity of the deceased driver has not been released and the accident remains under investigation.
