A woman in her 50s was sent to Harborview Medical Center during the rush-hour commute Tuesday after her car was struck by a Metro bus.

The incident took place in the 5700 block of Bothell Way NE at the boundary between Lake Forest Park and Kenmore.

The King County Sheriff’s Office received the call reporting the collision just after 5 p.m.

“The bus was headed eastbound on Bothell Way and was fully loaded with passengers,” said King County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Cindi West. “The investigators said that the woman was conscious but her injuries had to be serious.”

The woman’s car was struck on the driver side as it exited a dental clinic parking lot.

According to witnesses, the woman was transported to Rhododendron Park via aid car where she was airlifted via medevac to Harborview. The woman’s condition is unknown but West said that there could be another reason for the need to airlift the victim.

“At that time of day it would take forever to get through the traffic,” said West.

She also added that bus routes were delayed up to two hours on Bothell Way as a result of the incident.

None of the passengers on the bus were injured in the collision.
