School officials were dealing with what was described as a large amount of graffiti that appeared on the side of Inglemoor High Oct. 16 following the Viking football game with rival Bothell.

School Communications Director Leanna Albrecht said the graffiti was 80 percent removed by the time school started Oct. 19. Albrecht did not know a lot about what the graffiti said, stating only that the vandals used blue-and-white spray paint.

In a separate incident, sometime Oct. 18, someone tossed a brick through a window at Inglemoor. Albrecht said the brick was either covered with a flammable material or someone sprayed a flammable material through the broken window. In any case, the incident resulted in what Albrecht said was a small fire inside one classroom. She added police arrived at the scene very quickly and only minor damage resulted. Still, Albrecht said students normally in that room had been temporarily moved to a different location.

The Northshore School District issued this statement: “The two incidents appear to be isolated with no known connection at this point, and we are working with local authorities in their investigations. Northshore School District prides itself on the outstanding social responsibility and academic performance of its students. These incidents are not representative of our student body or what we as a district value and achieve.”

Albrecht did not have an estimate as to the cost of any damage to the Inglemoor building.
