Hung Dang of the University of Washington, Bothell has received a Fulbright Award.

The associate vice chancellor for enrollment management and student affairs at the university will participate in the U.S. — Japan International Education Administrators’ Seminar, an experience designed to introduce participants to the society, culture and higher education systems in Germany, India, Japan or Korea.

Dang plans to travel to Japan to strengthen his knowledge of the Japanese education system and student learning styles between the two countries.  The knowledge gained will help devise programs to increase the persistence rate of international students visiting the U.S. from Asia. On returning, Dang will assist students in mastering the skills, knowledge, and education necessary to make a successful transition to the American higher education system.

“I am very grateful to have been selected to receive one of the distinguished Fulbright awards,” says Dang, “With this award I will have the opportunity to further the mutual exchange between the people of the United States and Japan by demonstrating the qualities of service, excellence and leadership.”

The J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board (FSB) is the presidentially appointed 12-member board that is responsible for establishing worldwide policies for the Fulbright Program and for selection of Fulbright recipients. Since its inception more than 60 years ago, approximately 300,000 have participated in the program.
